Public Schools Advocate Begins Column On American Education For Crofton Online
New columnist wears many hats to deal with today's many problems
Antonio A. Brown, a long-time resident of Anne Arundel County, has agreed to write a series of columns for Crofton Online about the current state of American public education. His first column is now available online.
Mr. Antonio Brown has a long history of public service in Maryland. He is an honorably
discharged veteran of the Army Military Intelligence Branch and has been an
advocate for human and civil rights for nearly 18 years.
Mr. Brown helped draft
Maryland's crime and welfare reform bills as well as assisted in founding the
Annapolis Family Support Center and the Anne Arundel County Conflict Resolution
Center. He has worked with members of the States Attorney Generals Office on
Community\Youth Crime Reduction and Education. He has served on 19
separate boards of directors throughout the state dealing with health issues,
crime, family, youth issues employment, etc. He has assisted in creating the
new Annapolis City Comprehensive Development Plan as well as organized several
anti-hate marches against white supremist groups such as the KKK.
Presently Mr. Brown is assisting in the formation of a new Public School Advocacy Group
called Parents for Public Schools in Annapolis. He has conducted many of his
advocate and activist activities under the acronym A.C.C.U.R.E. which stands
for Advocates and Consultants for Common Understanding Responsibility and
Education of which he is the founder. He has worked to develop sustainable
development strategies to deal with the problems of high density development
initiatives. He has conducted independent research into many of the areas that he is an
advocate for, and often is put to task writing position papers that
are forwarded to governmental agencies for the purpose of offering common sense
approaches to improving the quality of life for all Americans.
