Over the past several years that Bill Clinton has been the President of these United States, we have seen him implicated in every thing including murder. I have watched and listened to the views of people who are extremely critical of his Presidency. Yet the very same people fail to acknowledge the facts. And the facts are that aside from his obvious personal shortcomings, as a President he has been good for this nation. When the Republicans came into power in both houses on Capitol Hill they abolished the legislative service organizations meant to give women, hispanics and blacks a voice on the hill. They also led the campaigns which have nearly reversed 30 years of civil and human rights legislation. They talk about the people, but more often than not refuse to finance the types of policies which would benefit the people and their families. Our President has attempted to maintain a standard that no other before him has championed. With the exception of JFK, and those leaders who passed the civil rights act of 1964. Today he has engaged the nation in discussions concerning race and socio-economic factors which deprive our nation from reaching its fullest potential. Without his leadership I truly doubt if many others would maintain these important issues as priorities. Aside for our President's personal shortcomings he has been better for America than Reagan-Bush combined. They only sought to raise prices through de- regulation thus enabling their corporate friends to take advantage of the pocketbooks of the American working class. All this while driving the national debt through the roof! A War called Desert Storm was even launched against a so-called tyrant they openly did business with. Guess Sadam out lived his usefulness! Bush went after Noriega placing a million dollar bounty on his head prior to his apprehension. Why? Because Sadam could tell of the many government sanctioned attempts to overthrow other governments that had resources on which corporate America had its eye! And for Noriega could he possibly be the link that could tie the Bush Administration to the drug trade by way of the CIA. Sure! We the People of these United States with all our own personal short comings should not be so quick to throw out the baby with the bath water. For, I am certain that our President is only a man and subject to having character flaws as most people in this country have. When the someone turns the light on you and your apparent problems forgiveness is what you hope for, and so does the President. The dawn of a new and challenging century is upon us and we had better find it in our hearts to support this administration. As this administration seeks healing, reconciliation, peace, and justice for all Americans. These are the things that will assist us as we embark upon a new age. Not the mean spirited, anti-family, anti-woman and minority position that is the platform of many in Washington. "He who is without sin cast the first stone" a quote from the bible for all those who believe themselves above reproach........... |
