What Bush's VP Choice Really Means

George "W" Bush's selection of Dick Cheney as his running mate is incredibly telling. It means that Bush's number one concern is that he might have moved too far left and thus needed to shore up his support among the dwindling number of radical right voters.

Well, there is no doubt about it now. The racist, gay-bashing, hate-filled Pat Robertson-Jerry Falwell wing of the party is going to vote for Bush.

But weren't they always going to? Who did he think they were going to vote for, Al Gore?

Bush really blew it. He gained nothing more than a few thousand Pat Buchanan supporters, while alienating a substantial block of moderate swing voters who had been at least somewhat sympathetic to his calls for compassion.
