Coffee House Reopens to Enthusiastic Crowd of 100
New Building Acoustics Called 'Great' By Performers
The Crofton City Limits Coffee House reopened to an enthusiastic crowd of one hundred on Friday evening [September 11] after a year long hiatus due to construction work at Community United Methodist Church. Three solid hours of top quality performers entertained an audience grateful for both the music and the comfortable new surroundings.
Although doors were supposed to open at 7:30, early arriving entertainers had filled the signup sheets by the scheduled opening time. As a result, a number of groups had to leave before their scheduled time on stage.
"If our only problem was too many quality performers, then I'm satisfied with our reopening," said one staffer.
The Coffee House is strictly open mike, with performers signing up for ten minutes or three songs each. In addition to the music, several poets presented original material.
The audience was treated to new tables and padded chairs, as well as coffee, tea, sodas, and snacks, all included in the $3.00 cover charge, certainly the best entertainment buy in the Crofton area, if not the entire Washington Baltimore Annapolis corridor.
The Coffee House is held on the second Friday of each month, at Community United Methodist Church on the corner of Riedel Road and Route 424 in Crofton, Maryland. The next concert will be held on Friday, October 9. Doors open at 7:30 with music beginning at 8:00.

The Crofton City Limits picnic held on Saturday, August 22 was a great success. It was the largest turnout we have ever had at one of our picnics. Click here to see some of the pictures!
As you probably know, our grand reopening is almost here. We sent out a letter prior to the picnic, and a postcard yesterday, to everyone on our mailing list. If you did not receive a letter or postcard and would like to be added to our snail mail list, just send us your mailing address. We also maintain an email list. If you did not receive email about the grand reopening, then you are not currently on our email list. If you would like to be added to that list, just send us your email address. We hope to see everyone again soon!

Due to major renovations at Community United Methodist Church, the Coffee House has been dormant for almost a year. We had planned on holding it at another site, but in all honesty, we decided it was too much trouble to lug equipment around town every time we met. We apologize for not making our plans clearer.
Now for the good news. The renovated social hall is almost complete and is really nice. We are currently waiting for all the required inspections to be completed.
We will be having a Welcome Back picnic on Saturday, August 22 at 4:00 PM, and then we will resume our old schedule starting in September. Therefore,
The first regular Crofton City Limits Coffee House date will be
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 1998, the Friday after Labor Day.
I PROMISE I will keep this page updated with the latest coffee house information. (Where have you heard that before?) In the meantime, you can definitely count on the August 22 picnic and on Friday, September 11 as our reopening date.
We will send out email to everyone on our email list well in advance of our resumption date. We will also mail out cards to everyone on our snail mail list. To be added to either list, send us email by clicking below.
I am working on a major revision to our web site, but you know how things are. In the meantime, you can click on the door below to access the old version of the site. The information provided is still correct.
Thanks for your patience and understanding. Remember, we are all volunteers.
