Sam Donaldson of ABC News Shouts 'Preposterous' When Told of Latest Poll Results
Tabloid TV Reporter Refuses to Concede Defeat

Sam Donaldson, veteran tabloid reporter at ABC News, shouted, "Preposterous" on live nationwide television Sunday [December 20, 1998] in response to the American people's rejection of his demand that the President of the United States leave office.

Donaldson, whose blustering, irrational attacks on the President have become legendary in Washington, DC, could not conceal his fury. Back in January, 1998, when the tabloid press began publishing grand jury information leaked to them by tobacco lobbyist Kenneth Starr, Donaldson gave the President 48 hours to resign.

The President declined to follow Donaldson's order.

Insiders at ABC News told Crofton Online that Donaldson's behavior has grown increasingly erratic over the past year. "It has gotten so bad," we were told, "that Donaldson is even considering a short weekend trip to a friend's house in Springfield," a town in Northern Virginia that is actually half a mile outside the Washington beltway!

Other tabloid reporters, including Lisa Myers and Tim Russert, would not confirm Donaldson's planned trip. Another confidential source cast doubt on the story, reminding us that Donaldson has not set foot outside the famous highway that encircles the nation's capital since 1973, the year before the forced resignation of former President Richard Nixon.

The source went on to note that Donaldson's contract with ABC News not only specifically prohibits travel outside the beltway, it also requires that he immediately report to his superiors any contact, including telephone calls and email, that he might receive from the forbidden territory. "If he does go to Springfield, it could cost him his job," added the source.
