A Crofton Online Review
Shaw Farms of Howard County
Shaw Farms of Howard County, our fourth featured 'Farmer of the Week,' is a family run business. Susan Ongert tells us that all of her produce is certified organic.
Their produce is grown in their 21,000 square feet of greenhouse space. Shaw Farms is one of only 22 farms certified by the Maryland Organic Co-op.
They grow delicious green peppers, and "the best tomatoes going."
Also available are a variety of produce including summer squash and neon eggplant.
They grow sugar plants, annual and perennial herbs and flowers, and also offer a delicious baby green salad mix.

Shaw Farms does not maintain a store, but you can find them at Dobbins Center Market in Columbia on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 until 7:00 PM, and on Sundays in the Farmers Market in Baltimore City (under the JFX).

And of course they will be at the Crofton Farmers Market at the Village Green in Crofton every Saturday morning from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM through October 24, 1998, rain or shine! We suggest you get there early, as many vendors sell out! The lines begin to form as the market opens.
