Even as reports of gun violence have become daily fair in the national media, an official committee of the Maryland Republican Party is sponsoring a political fundraiser that raffles off a Beretta 9MM pistol, together with a book called "More Guns, Less Crime."

Caroll County Republican Central Committee member Scott Hollenbeck, who is organizing the gun giveaway on behalf of the GOP, said, "We want to reach out to the Second Amendment people."

The book being given away argues that the solution to gun violence is for everyone to arm to the teeth. The accompanying pistol is meant to back up the argument.

Baltimore Sun (BS) columnist Republican Gregory Kane recently made a similar case, arguing that the solution to school gun violence was to increase the number of guns in schools.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party continues to work for sensible gun control legislation that will protect the public safety while also protecting people's constitutional rights.
