The Crofton Kiwanis Club would like to extend an invitation to the community to hear a very special guest speaker at their meeting on Wednesday October 27 at 7:00 PM at the Walden Country Club. Dr. Annette Wiechert, director of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, will give a presentation on the Women's Memorial, its origin, brief history, and the role the memorial foundation fills in honoring women who have served their country.
Dr. Wiechert would love to meet with women from the area who have military service from any era. One of the goals of the memorial is to register, and thus recognize, each and every woman who served her country. She encourages all women with military service, prior or current, to come to the meeting or to the Memorial. Over 1.8 million women have served in America's defense. No more than 300,000 have been registered by family or friends. Each woman's story makes up the collective history of women in the military and every story is important.
The Kiwanis Club is also holding its annual Charity Auction on November 21. Items up for bid include an Official NFL game football signed by the legendary Johnny Unitas and an original photograph of the 1927 New York Yankees.
