This month our feature story is about dying ducks, and what you can do to help! We interview two long time Crofton residents about the threat to wildlife posed by the way the dredging of the Aberdeen Drive Duck Pond is being handled.

We also have an interview with John Klocko III, Crofton's representative on the Anne Arundel County Council. Mr. Klocko gives his views on the quality of education in the county, and on the Council's running battle with the School Board.

We welcome back Days of Our Lives fans! To win a FREE Days CD ROM, be sure to check out our coverage of Bryan 'Lucas Roberts' Dattilo at Joyce Becker's Soap Opera Festival 1998.

And we continue our coverage of the Crofton Farmers Market, with features on Shaw Farms of Howard County , Joyce's Flowers and Herbs of Severn, Maryland , Mitchell Wood Farms, and Ginny's Gourmet Products. Welcome to our August, 1998 issue.

This month we are featuring two more articles in our series of exclusive interviews with area leaders: Crofton Online Interviews The Duck Ladies, two area women who have definite opinions about protecting wildlife in Crofton, and an interview with John Klocko III. Mr. Klocko speaks out about public education and the County Council's long running dispute with the School Board.

We are as sick of the Monica Lewinsky story as you are, but we still advise you to check out two articles in this month's issue. Lewinsky Testimony Clears Clinton presents the facts that you are probablynot getting from the tabloid press, meaning the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun, and a Crofton Online exclusive story revealing for the first time ever, the secret Republican strategy that explains clearly what is really going on, and why it is happening. One reader has already written us to say, "At last a theory that makes sense of this mess. The Republicans continued backing of Starr made no sense up till now." If you can stomach one last Lewinsky story, this should be it.

This month we begin a new pictorial feature as our readers submit pictures of their vacation travels. When you travel, take a copy of Crofton Online with you and snap a picture of yourself, then submit it to us. We will print it in our very next issue. This month, one reader visited Japan, and the Taj Mahal in India! Check it out.

If you have been following the controversy surrounding the book "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," you should check here as we begin our coverage with a special report on the August 22 hearing at the School Board office in Annapolis. You are invited to make your views known.

If you are a fan of Days of Our Lives, you should enter our new contest: Who will get custody of Will? Is Lucas really a drunk? Will Sami's scheme finally pay off? We include exclusive photos of Days star Bryan 'Lucas Roberts' Dattilo.

Check out our improved Business Directory. We now have links to Crofton area doctors, car repair shops, restaurants, and much more. We also have links to Crofton area personal web pages.

At the suggestion of a reader, we will very soon be adding a public opinion poll about the controversy surrounding the county School Board. Should the Board be elected instead of appointed? We will also be publishing a review of the controversial new movie Saving Private Ryan. And we will have interviews with candidates for the House of Delegates. All of these items will be added to our August issue very shortly, so check back often.

And, finally, all of our July articles and June articles are still available.

Our circulation continues to increase. Over 175 new readers joined us last week alone! Please help us spread the word.

As always, we are interested in what you think. Please
