Fire Brings Tragedy To Crofton Family
A tragic fire completely destroyed a Crofton home on Old Willow Way, across from Gardners Roadside Grill on Route 424 today [December 23] as the first snow of the season began to fall.

The fire was caused by a space heater the family had put in their dog house in an attempt to keep the family pet warm as the temperature outside dropped below freezing. Although no people were injured, the dog was struck and killed by a fire truck responding to the emergency.

From The Editor : Our December issue was delayed due to an impending death in the family. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We wish you the very best of holidays, and hope you enjoy the first white Christmas in recent memory. Here is this month's issue. As always, we welcome your comments.
What's New This Month

As the holiday season approaches, Crofton area homes have become draped with beautiful lights, and all manner of decorations. We took pictures of a few homes such as the one shown at the left. We have full screen pictures of this home, of Crofton Town Hall's tree, the lights in front of the Crofton Country Club, and several other homes. Click here to view thumbnail versions before deciding which ones to download.

'Tis the season to be jolly, but when tragedy strikes, the holidays can become associated with grief that reoccurs every year. Read about how one family is using the Internet to ease the pain. Click here.

If you are planning on making a purchase from Circuit City, or have recently made a purchase there, you need to be aware of their claim that they can unilaterally change the warantee on any product, even AFTER THE PURCHASE, without your permission, and without notifying you. Details here.

We listened to your comments and have begun offering thumbnail versions of our pictures to help you pick which ones to download. We have a hundred pictures from mainland China taken on a recent trip. And we have pictures of Christmas in New York City.

Sick of all the impeachment talk? Of course, but if we look away now, our elected representatives just might pull off the first coup this country has ever seen. We have no choice but to continue covering this issue:

Speaker-designate Robert Livingston, a leader in the 'Get Clinton' campaign, resigned after admitting to his own marital infidelity. What the media didn't tell you was that the 'affairs' were actually liaisons with prostitutes paid for by lobbyists in return for supporting legislation in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. Important details here.

Crofton area Congressman Wayne Gilchrest voted for 'More Monica' when his constituents wanted to 'move on.' Details here. And read why Mr. Gilchrest may not serve out his full term here.

A blustering Sam Donaldson of the tabloid television show 'ABC News' is furious that the public isn't following his orders. Details here.

The Internet-based lobbying organization MoveOn.org has been calling on Congress to censure President Clinton and then to move on to other pressing national issues. The group raised $5,000,000.00 in small donations in the first 24 hours following the House impeachment vote! For pictures and the story, click here.

Thousands of citizens attended a rally on the steps of the U.S. Capital on Thursday [December 17] calling on Congress to drop the impeachment of the President. We saw many interesting signs, including one which read "Attention Kenneth Starr: Your Mother Had Sex!" Word has it that Starr began an immediate investigation. Pictures and the full story here.

Did you watch any of the Judiciary Committee hearings on television? If you did, you couldn't help but notice the obvious difference between the Republican party and the Democratic party. Details here.

The Republicans criticized the President for launching an attack on Iraq, causing embarrassment for the United States around the world. Read all about it here.

We have received a lot of reader feedback on our reporting about impeachment issues. One reader called it "fascism." We print his comments in full and unedited. We also received many favorable comments. Our policy is to print all comments we receive, as long as the writer gives us permission to do so. Click here to read what our readers have to say.

We found an interesting web site with details of the impeachment of President Andrew Johnson. Did you know that he had an affair with a married woman, then married her BEFORE she got divorced from her first husband? Click here to visit the site.

And finally, we are proud to announce that an independent rating company has determined we had over 700 different readers during the month of November. Our readership has been increasing every month. The 711 readers gave us 9,708 'hits' causing a total of 249,500,620 bytes of information to be transmitted from our servers.
