Crofton Online: Reader Feedback
I'm A Student, Too
A Commentary on the Colorado Mass Murders

I am a Junior at Davidson High School in Mobile Alabama. As I read this story, I was greatly shocked at some of the content, but not influenced by it. With so many occurrences such as Columbine in America today, parents are looking for things to take the blame off of themselves. If parents did their jobs, and raised their children correctly and responsibly, then they would know their child, and know that what they are reading will not influence them in any way.

Quite frankly, I am sick and tired of the media and parents pointing fingers at everything that is not considered "normal." Take Marilyn Manson for example, I am not a fan of his, but I do not criticize him, or blame him for any actions OTHER children make. I know that all I have to do is simply turn the channel..

People, if you don't agree with something, then don't pay it attention. Don't spend your time dwelling on all the things wrong with it, just ignore it..

Parents, I don't understand why you will allow your children to watch cable television, yet when they are exposed to literature that will expand their mind and make them open to other opinions and points of view, you tear it apart limb from limb, and find all the bad things in it. It is not as if your children will never be exposed to this kind of nature. They are not as innocent as they seem! Would you rather your child be educated about such things as sex and rape in a mature environment, or learn about it by their friends, and never now what really is right or wrong?.

Use your heads parents, it is a shame that a 17 year old has a broader mind than an adult.

We welcome your response.
