To the Editor:

The Crofton News-Crier has done our community a grave disservice by publishing Tres Kerns' myth-filled guest column attacking gays and lesbians. Although good people can disagree on the need for specific prohibitions on sexual discrimination, this column goes way beyond the bounds of decency. Would the News-Crier print an article written by the KKK attacking blacks in a similar manner?

Of particular concern is Mr. Kerns' attempt to resurrect the myth that aids is a homosexual disease. Aids is spread by having unprotected sex or sharing a needle with someone who is infected. It has absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation. How many of our children will be mislead into unsafe behavior by Mr. Kerns' hate-filled article?

Shame on Mr. Kerns, and shame on the News-Crier for spreading his garbage.
