A Crofton Online Exclusive Interview
Candidate Tim Shearer: 'Klocko Is In Pocket of Developers'
County Councilman John Klocko III is in the pocket of developers, according to Tim Shearer, who wants Klocko's job. Furthermore, says Shearer, Klocko should recuse himself from any votes on the County Council involving development issues, due to his relationship with Procom, Inc., a Crofton-based community management company.
In a recent interview with Crofton Online, Candidate Shearer referred to his opponent in this fall's election as "John Gary Klocko" because, he says, both County Executive John Gary and Councilman John Klocko support the same developers that have been given free reign in Anne Arundel County.
"Studies have shown that development costs a community more than it brings in [in increased tax revenues]", Shearer said. He plans to take a "more cautious" approach. "Right now, we are definitely going down the wrong path by allowing development without providing for adequate support facilities," he added, noting that the "Gary/Klocko" team have pushed for waivers for developers of the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance at a level of 120%. This would allow for much more development without first assuring adequate schools, roads, and other county infrastructure.
