Kenneth Starr Has No Shame, Threatens Clinton's Wife, Friend With Long Jail Terms

Republicans, Media Try To Force Clinton Resignation

Right wing Republicans and the nation's media moguls have, in effect, conceded that they don't have the votes to impeach the President for engaging in private consensual sex with another adult. Acting as their agent, tobacco lobbyist Kenneth Starr has threatened to jail the President's wife, and his friend Susan Mcdougal, who has already spent years in jail rather than accede to Starr's orders that she testify falsely against Mr. Clinton.

"If the President doesn't agree to resign, we will jail his wife, and if necessary, his daughter, and we will put him in jail, too, as soon as he leaves office," said a source inside Starr's office, who of course spoke only on condition of anonymity. "And we'll make life miserable for the American public. They can expect to watch clips of Clinton's testimony on every channel, daily, even hourly, for the next two years if there is no Presidential resignation."

The nation's tabloid media, including the Baltimore Sun and ABC News, immediately picked up the cue and began demanding that the President not defend himself against the false charges brought by Republican Starr. Meanwhile, the rest of the world watched in shock and disbelief as the inside-the-beltway media declared all out war on the American public. While they once laughed about the "Lewinsky matter" as ludicrous, they are now becoming worried. "Maybe we should begin negotiating an arms control treaty with Rupert Murdock and CBS, instead of wasting our time on President Clinton," said one diplomat in Moscow.

In the words used during the McCarthy witch hunt of the fifties, "Has Kenneth Starr no shame?" asked one political analyst. "He is already rich, pocketing a million dollars a year lobbying for the tobacco interests, while on the public payroll supposedly investigating Whitewater. What else does he want?"
