Crofton Online: Starr Watch
Republican Ken Starr Thumbs Nose at Public and U.S. Law, Continues Illegal Leaks, as Pundits Spook Democrats
Tabloid Media Continues Ruthless Attacks on President
In a letter to President Clinton's lawyer, Republican tobacco lobbyist Kenneth Starr today [September 8] stated that he would not give a copy of his "report" directly to the President. In a hideous joke, Starr said that he would keep his "report" secret.
"The President will have to get the report from the news media," said a source inside Starr's office. "Mr. Starr will be leaking this one personally." Leaking this information is, of course, a felony, but Starr claims to be above the law, as he is on a mission from "God."
Most of Starr's "report" has already been leaked to the tabloid Washington media, resulting in a rash of cigar jokes.
Meanwhile, congressional Democrats have finally begun responding to the marching orders given them by the media moguls. The media's failed attempt to force a Clinton "resignation" on the American public has infuriated key newsmen in Washington, who are now turning their attention on Congress.
"If Congress doesn't remove President Clinton, then we will investigate and expose every sex act ever committed by every elected official in this country," bragged one ABC News insider, who of course spoke only on condition of anonymity. "And then we'll go after the American public. Anyone without a press badge will become suspect."
As the Baltimore Sun, ABC News, and the other tabloid news organizations continue to see their credibility plummet, calls for action to somehow reign them in without endangering constitutional rights continue. Previously, guarantees of freedom of the press have been restricted to those rich enough to afford a press. The Internet, however, allows all citizens an equal right to speak out.
