Baltimore Sun Ignores 'Move On'; Covers Right Wing March Instead
285,000 Support 'Move On'; No Figures Given On 'Other' Event
The tabloid Baltimore Sun (BS) published an article at the top of its page A-2 today [November 1] covering a right wing rally in Washington, D.C. that called for the impeachment of the President. Paid Republican operative Lucianne Goldberg, who began the current media crisis as part of a publicity stunt for her client Linda Tripp, spoke to the group. No attendance estimates were given by the paper.
Meanwhile, the BS has provided not a single line of coverage of Thursday's massive national lobbying effort by MoveOn.org in which Americans across the country presented petitions to their Congress men and women containing a total of 285,000 signatures, collected in a little over two weeks. The petitions call on Congress to "move on" to other pressing national issues.
Throughout this press scandal, the BS has kept up the anti-Clinton drumbeat in its "news" columns, even as it occasionally published pro-Clinton editorials. At no time, however, has the BS ever acknowledged its own role as a tabloid intent on publishing any gossip, no matter how lurid, in pushing the country to its present peak of anti-media, anti-Republican backlash.
