Newspaper Sends 'A Terrible Message To Kids': Racism Is Alive And Well At The Baltimore Sun
B.S. Continues Charade Called People's Panel; Ignores Polls
The Baltimore Sun (B.S.) today [September 25] continued its all out assault on the President with the latest edition of its "People's Panel." A panel member announced that a joke told by the eight year old son of B.S. columnist Dan Rodricks "proves this is how Clinton will be remembered--not for what he has done for the country, but for this," with "this" apparently meaning for Clinton having failed to pass the morality test of rightwinger Pat Robertson and his supporters at the Sun. According to the B.S., one joke told by an eight year old speaks louder than the combined voices of Maryland's citizens.
Meanwhile, the B.S. continues to ignore scientific opinion polls, all of which show the American people rejecting by record landslides the antics of Republican Kenneth Starr and his tabloid media supporters. Indeed, the latest round of polls all agree on one thing. President Clinton's approval rating is at record highs and is increasing with each day the media prolongs the "crisis."
The "People's Panel" is a device concocted by the B.S. in an attempt to convince politicians that they must either impeach the President, or embarrass him into resigning. The "Panel" consists of the politically correct number of blacks, whites, males, and females, continuing the position of the B.S. that all blacks have the exact same political opinion, and can therefore be adequately represented by two blacks hand picked by the newspaper.
We see nothing wrong with the B.S. convening a panel of individuals and allowing them to spout off in public. What we object to is their repeated assertion that the panel in any way represents the citizens of the state of Maryland, based solely on their demographics. All polls clearly show the public's condemnation of the Starr Inquisition and their rejection of the idea that the President should leave office before the end of his term. Blacks are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves; they certainly don't need two blacks hand picked by the B.S. to do it for them. Nor do any of the rest of Maryland's citizens.
The out-of-touch B.S. has invested tremendous political capital in its unprecedented assault on the Presidency, in the hopes of maintaining its political hold on the state. As its schemes continue to flounder, the once great newspaper thrashes about, unable to comprehend why the public is no longer following its lead.
How pathetic!
