| According to State Law: Yard sales may only be held on 2 consecutive
weekends or 14 consecutive days per year without a TRADER'S LICENSE and may
be held by not more than two (2) families ON THEIR OWN PROPERTY. Contact
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for more information. Yard sale signs should
not be attached to utility poles as a safety measure. I am sending this to you because on two different occasions my vehicle was almost rear ending by someone not paying attention to their driving because they were drive by yard salers looking at the mess set up on Reidel Road. Yes I said mess. I have lived in the Meadows for over 25 years and have been involved in the community and watched it grow. That property along Reidel belongs to the county not the hucksters that come from other neighborhoods and counties to sell along the road. The people who sell from their own homes or go to the local flea markets (which there are many in the area and you pay only a small fee) have kept within the law for many years. Most of those selling along Reidel are in the business and are just too cheap to purchase a license because they found a free traffic pattern. Now the traffic has become a nightmare and from the many phone calls to the police they seem to want it stopped also. If you have it at the church, I believe you will still have a traffic problem. Someone in the are has to wake up and smell the coffee. All these open sports fields need a community building that is large enough to house meeting areas on a second floor and a first floor that has basketball courts etc during the week practice and fleas markets and produce sales on the week ends. If all the local HOAs, athletic councils, Jaycees, Kiwanis, etc would get together instead of trying to outdo one another they could have one big fund raiser and get the project completed. This would also help keep our schools in lot better shape. I've seen some of the destruction like broken ceiling tiles, clock guard smashed, walls with ball marks so heavy they need to be repainted almost monthly. The groups that use the elementary schools really don't care about the damage because most of them are in middle school. They aren't required to replace or repair what they damage, the school has to foot the repair bills. I guess when all my lines are written my bottom line is "Crofton needs a large Community building" to keep the neighborhoods looking like a community and not swap meets on the road side. |
